Roman Iced Coffee | 羅馬冰咖啡

“Roman Coffee” 羅馬咖啡 is what it’s called in Taiwan. However when I did a search on google to make sure that I got the name right, there was nothing quite like this under “roman coffee”. “Roman Coffee” is a refreshing drink that’s perfect for summer, it’s a coffee seltzer and a great dairy-free alternative.

This is likely something that’s seen in Rome but had a different name, Taiwanese coffee shops took it and named it “Roman Coffee”. Sicilian coffee is another name I’ve seen with a similar recipe.

So what is this drink, REALLY? Espresso, lime/lemon juice, soda water, sugar, or honey(optional).

I love this drink in summer, it’s tart, super refreshing and there’s no dairy! I’m not dairy-free, but I just don’t want milk sometimes. (or when Sean ate all the milk with Graham Crackers)

Using local honey as a sweetener adds a layer of flavor to this drink. I love honey from The Bee Shed and their seasonal flight. Each seasonal honey provides a big difference in their flavor profile- I’m able to use “just honey” to create a variety of flavors and depths to my drinks or dishes.
