A Winemaker’s Passion: From Software to Sonoma
Justin Harmon didn’t start in the vineyards—he started in engineering. His journey from working with software to crafting expressive, bold wines is a testament to passion and the pursuit of excellence. With Argot Wines, Justin has carved out a niche for producing rich, full-bodied wines that push the boundaries of traditional Sonoma winemaking.

Tasting the Magic of Argot Wines
One of the highlights of our tasting was Bastard Tongue Pinot Noir—a wine so expressive and layered that it felt like rediscovering Pinot Noir for the first time. With intense dark fruit flavors, structured tannins, and a long, velvety finish, it’s no wonder this wine has a cult following.
But that was just the beginning. We also explored:
- Chardonnay, Le Rayon-Vert – A beautifully balanced wine with bright acidity and depth, blending the best barrels from different vineyards.
- Syrah, Indigo – A dark, brooding Syrah with deep black fruit and spice.
- Cabernet Sauvignon – Bonny’s Vineyard, Oakville – A wine that carries the legacy of a historic vineyard, delivering power and elegance in every sip.
The Philosophy Behind Argot Wines
For Justin, winemaking is about storytelling—capturing the personality of the vineyard, the varietal, and the season. With every bottle, he aims to create wines that are authentic, bold, and unforgettable. Whether it’s through the structured richness of the Cabernet Sauvignon or the unexpected depth of his Chardonnay, Argot’s wines consistently challenge expectations.

Is Bastard Tongue the Ultimate Pinot Noir?
As we sipped and discussed, one question lingered—is Bastard Tongue the ultimate Pinot Noir? With its intense flavor, meticulous craftsmanship, and undeniable presence, it’s certainly a contender for one of the best. But the beauty of wine is in the experience, and this tasting was one for the books.
